My photography focuses on key aspects of conceptual photography: location, time, and repetition.
For my Erie Canal Artist in Residence project, I chose to work with historical photographs of the canal, locks, and nearby towns to create new images of the same locations, a process known as rephotography (Repeat Photography).
While some sites closely resembled their past counterparts, others had changed dramatically. Back in my studio I worked to match and blend the historical and contemporary images, highlighting the contrasts and transformations in the landscape over time.
This process visually captures both the continuity and evolution of the canal's surroundings.
